This will be my debut on the “Grand Encounter” series presented by the American Pianists Association, whose very first competition I won in 1980 when I was 21 years old. At that time the organization was called the Beethoven Foundation, and among its board members was comedian Victor Borge. He became a treasured friend and supporter, and I always felt it a particularly special grace to my life that I came to know his famous smile, warm humor and marvelous pianism personally.
The recital will be held at the Indiana History Center at 3:30 p.m., and will feature works of Mozart, Gershwin, Federico Longás, and some of my own compositions.
