The concert is free to the public and will be broadcast live on Chicago’s WFMT-FM. Don’t miss this rare bonbon!

“Rooted in America” is the title of this exceptional concert, on which I will play George Gershwin’s Second Rhapsody along with solo works of Artie Mathews and Margaret Bonds. The orchestra is conducted by Andrew Grams, and the program is dedicated with love and gratitude to my dear friend, the late Michael Morgan (1957 – 2021).

The New Year of 2023 begins with a performance of one of my lifelong favorite Piano Concertos — the first, in E minor op. 11, by Frédéric Chopin. And it will be conducted by one of my favorite maestra, Tania Miller.

I will play Jared Miller’s stunning Piano Concerto “Shattered Night,” which I commissioned and premièred at the Winnipeg New Music Festival in January 2020. The work evokes the tragedy of the 1938 Kristallnacht, in alluring sound, mood, and brilliant pianism. This is one of the most important works in my concert repertoire and I am thrilled to be playing it again. Bradley Thachuk conducts.
