The first of two concerts devoted to the indelible New York music of George Gershwin (1898 – 1937) and Dana Suesse (1909 – 1987), with the skyline of Brooklyn Bridge and the East River as backdrop. On this program are several of Gershwin’s improvised Foxtrots and his Rhapsody in Blue; and Suesse’s Jazz Nocturne, “Blue Moonlight,” “Serenade to a Skyscraper,” and more.
I am honored to be this year’s Parsons & Poole Legacy Honoree, at the University of Western Ontario. I will give a master class and recital at UWO, performing works of Wolfgang Mozart (Fantasy KV 394, “Dürnitz” Sonata KV 284, Sonata in A minor KV 310), Dana Suesse (her Jazz Nocturne and “Cocktail Suite”) and George Gershwin (Rhapsody in Blue).

My second consecutive season at this historic music festival, with plenty of solo and chamber music appearances with illustrious colleagues including violinist Stephanie Chase. Music of Beethoven, Bernstein, Nadia Boulanger, Mendelssohn, Mozart, Rachmaninoff, Ravel, Rossini, Saint-Säens, and others.
Bernstein’s “Age of Anxiety,” in honor of the composer’s 100th birthday, with legendary conductor Kazuyoshi Akiyama.
