Competition adjudication. This year’s Philadelphia chapter competition will take place at Temple University.

The second of two concerts devoted to the indelible New York music of George Gershwin (1898 – 1937) and Dana Suesse (1909 – 1987), with the skyline of Brooklyn Bridge and the East River as backdrop. On this program are Suesse’s delicious “Cocktail Suite,” “110th Street Rhumba” and “Night Sky”; and Gershwin’s Three Preludes and Second Rhapsody (“Rhapsody in Rivets”) in my own virtuoso arrangement for solo piano.

The Winter Edition of the Newport Festival presents a chamber recital featuring myself with violinist Stephanie Chase. We will perform Sonatas of Wolfgang Mozart and Richard Strauss, works of Miklós Rózsa, and Maurice Ravel’s Tzigane.

On this program are several of Gershwin’s improvised Foxtrots and his Rhapsody in Blue; and Suesse’s Jazz Nocturne, “Blue Moonlight,” “Serenade to a Skyscraper,” and more.

I am honored to be this year’s Parsons & Poole Legacy Honoree, at the University of Western Ontario. I will give a master class and recital at UWO, performing works of Wolfgang Mozart (Fantasy KV 394, “Dürnitz” Sonata KV 284, Sonata in A minor KV 310), Dana Suesse (her Jazz Nocturne and “Cocktail Suite”) and George Gershwin (Rhapsody in Blue).
