“The Eduardo Mata Youth Orchestra of Mexico presented Sara Davis Buechner on Sunday the 28th with the first Brahms Concerto, and it is fair to call attention to the splendid performance of these young people under the meticulous guidance of Maestro Gustavo Rivero Weber. They were up to the task of such an extraordinary soloist.
“How memorable was the concert that Sara played on Wednesday evening (January 31). In these times when the music scene has been dominated by so many young machines that compete to play louder and faster, listen to an artist as refined as she, who puts her imagination and fantasy at the service of a prodigious technique. She is incomparable.
“[Her recital] included little-frequented offerings of Mozart and Chopin, and offered a refreshing dose of miniatures of Dana Suesse, Federico Longas and Anton Arensky, addressed in the manner of the great interpreters of the past — with such a personal way of recreating each composer’s compass, that one may affirm that her pianism does not resemble that of anyone else.
“It will be a privilege to hear her this weekend when she performs the Second Piano Concerto of Béla Bartók.”
